We are a small group of caring individuals that enjoy playing in the dirt! More than just playing, we also work together to grow fresh vegetables, fruits, and herbs in a dedicated manner. A majority of the food grown is donated to the local Rockingham County area. Scroll down further to learn about the benefits of a community garden, how to join us, and who we partner with!

Get Involved in the Volunteer Program
The Reidsville Community Garden is open from sunrise to sunset all days of the week to the public. However, in order to maximize harvest and the health of the garden, we ask that those with little gardening experience avoid working in the garden without an expert. We welcome volunteers to come either Wednesday and/or Saturday mornings from 9-12. On Wednesdays, we primarily work on the maintenance of our plants by watering them and also weeding the beds and rows. Saturdays we continue the work of Wednesday but also pursue bigger tasks that need to be done. Please note, you are not required to stay for the full 3 hours. Even if you can only stay 30 minutes, that is fine! Meet new people, get your hands dirty, and do some good for your community!
What We Do
During the start of planting seasons, we work with volunteers to sow seeds into rows and beds, as well as transplant small seedlings into their new homes. From there, we focus on battling the natural elements, such as weeds or the sun, by weeding and watering.
Bigger jobs include applying applying liquid fertilizer to our plants, spreading mulch throughout all of the garden, and more! Come to the garden to help us out with daily tasks, as well as big jobs! The garden is also a great place to socialize with your fellow neighbors and meet new friends. You will also learn more about how crops are grown and taken care of, giving you the skills and knowledge to start a garden at your own home and grow fresh food!

Our Partners
We primarily partner with two different local organizations in the Rockingham Community: The Reidsville Outreach Center and the Rockingham County Mobile Food Market. These organizations make the food we grow have meaning by distributing the food to local community members who are in need. We are grateful for what these distribution partners and volunteers do for their community but also are appreciative that we are able to easily donate our food to these organizations.
